Five things to do before your speech.
Note: You may have to go out of your way to request these things.
- Walk on stage and hit your marks. Get a feel for the spacing and lighting.
- Test your microphone on stage with the tech team. Use the SAME microphone you will use during your speech.
- Test your presentation on stage and with the tech team. Go through every slide and use the SAME clicker you will use during your speech.
- Talk to the sound engineer and let them know about your speaking style. Do you move around? Do you have long hair? Are you loud? Will you sing? Discuss your speech.
- Talk to the stage manager and ask if you should know any additional timing & protocols. Know where you are entering from and exiting.
